NoKnot Fishing Co. Shines at TackleMeet Costa Mesa: A Weekend of Community and Connection

At NoKnot Fishing Co., we’re passionate about making fishing more enjoyable for everyone. There’s no better place to share that passion than at TackleMeet events. This past weekend, on September 20, 2025, our co-founders, Evan and Jake, had the privilege of tabling at TackleMeet Costa Mesa, hosted at Harbor Trinity Church. This marked our second TackleMeet event, following a successful debut in Long Beach last month, and we’re thrilled to share our experience. With many more events to come, we look forward to connecting with even more anglers in the future.

Discovering TackleMeet: A Game-Changing Opportunity

NoKnot Fishing Co. was founded by two Loyola Marymount University (LMU) students, Evan and Jake, who created the NoKnot fishing clip to eliminate the hassle of knot-tying. While our innovative product has been making waves online, connecting with the fishing community in person has been a game-changer. TackleMeet, a series of fishing tackle sales hosted in parking lots across Southern California, caught our attention when the organizer, Steve, reached out via Instagram to invite us to their Long Beach event last month.

“At first, we were a bit skeptical about submitting a deposit for an event we hadn’t heard of,” Evan admits. “But after checking out their Instagram page, it looked super legit, and we decided to go for it.” That first event was a whirlwind—Evan and Jake stayed up until 4 a.m. preparing product, not entirely sure what to expect. What they found was a parking lot buzzing with vendors selling tackle, rods, and merch, and a warm, welcoming community eager to connect. The success of that inaugural TackleMeet inspired them to return for the Costa Mesa event, and we’re so grateful they did.

A Warm Welcome from the Fishing Community

TackleMeet isn’t just a tackle swap meet—it’s a celebration of the fishing community, where anglers of all levels come together to share their passion. For NoKnot, these events have been an incredible opportunity to put a face to our brand, showcase our knot-free fishing clip, and have real conversations with customers. “The support we received from the fishing community was amazing,” Jake says. “The people we met were so kind and welcoming, which was a stark contrast to some of the negativity we’ve seen on social media.”

At the Costa Mesa TackleMeet, our booth saw steady traffic and enthusiastic engagement. While the turnout was slightly lower than the Long Beach event, Evan notes that “our conversion rate was much higher, and we sold the same amount of product while talking to far fewer people.” The positive feedback and strong sales were a major proof of concept for NoKnot, reinforcing that our product resonates with anglers looking for a simpler, more efficient fishing experience. We nearly sold out of our inventory at both events—a testament to the community’s excitement for our innovative solution.

Memorable Moments: Building Connections

For Jake, the most memorable part of TackleMeet Costa Mesa was the chance to connect with other vendors. “Talking to them about their life and fishing journeys and just really getting to know them was incredible,” he shares. “They were extremely supportive of our business and wanted to learn all about how NoKnot came about.” These interactions highlighted the spirit of TackleMeet: community over competition. From seasoned anglers to fellow entrepreneurs, everyone was eager to share stories, offer support, and celebrate each other’s passion for fishing.

Evan echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the unique value of TackleMeet. “It’s one of the best opportunities we’ve had so far in the early days of NoKnot,” he says. “The close, intimate connection we get with the community would be hard to find anywhere else.” The event’s family-friendly atmosphere, free entry, and diverse vendor lineup drew big crowds, creating the perfect environment for NoKnot to showcase our product and build lasting relationships.

Why the NoKnot Fishing Clip Stands Out

For those who stopped by our booth, the NoKnot fishing clip was a revelation. Designed to eliminate the tedious knot-tying process, our clip allows anglers to set up rigs quickly and adjust them on the fly. Unlike pre-tied rigs, it offers unmatched versatility—anglers can change the distance between hooks and sinkers without cutting line, saving both time and materials. Its compact, low-profile design also prevents tangles in your tackle box, making it a must-have for beginners and seasoned anglers alike.

The hands-on demonstrations at TackleMeet allowed us to show attendees exactly how the NoKnot clip simplifies their fishing experience. The overwhelmingly positive response—from “this is genius” to “why didn’t I think of that?”—reaffirmed our mission to make fishing more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Gratitude to TackleMeet and the Fishing Community

We are incredibly grateful to TackleMeet for providing us with the opportunity to table at their events. Their affordable booth pricing and well-organized setup have made it possible for a young startup like NoKnot to connect with the fishing community in a meaningful way. A special thank you goes to Steve, his family, and the TackleMeet team for their warm invitation and ongoing support. We encourage everyone to check out the TackleMeet website to stay updated on upcoming events— we hope to see you there!

We’re equally thankful for the attention and enthusiasm we received from event attendees. Your support, feedback, and excitement for the NoKnot fishing clip fuel our passion to keep innovating. “We were thrilled to interact with everybody who wanted to talk with us,” Jake says. “We can’t wait for the next event.”
